FACT CHECK: Doug Ford says Ontario is “hammering the testing” but experts disagree

QUEEN’S PARK — Tuesday in the legislature Doug Ford bragged about Ontario’s testing, completely brushing-off the hours-long lineups that people have been waiting in to get a test – or to be turned away at the end of the day. “We’re hammering the testing,” said Ford. Here is what experts say today:

“This is an awful trend. we don’t have the testing capacity to match and our structural neglect/deficits are playing out again in nursing homes to low-income communities.”

"I am extremely concerned, more concerned than I was in March. Politicians need to pay attention to doctors who are raising concerns ... these are predictable issues… I am so concerned this could collapse the healthcare system if we don’t address (testing) immediately ... testing is inadequate right now in every way"

  • Dr. David Warner, Advisory MD, on The Arlene Bynon Show

“Ontario’s messaging on testing (and virtually everything else) has been abysmal…. As a result, Ontario seems to constantly leave the public perplexed about its policies, and on edge.”
